Sustainable Communities Program (SCP) Call for Projects

Post

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) announces the Connect SoCal Sustainable Communities Program Call for Applications focused on Civic Engagement, Equity, and Environmental Justice (SCP CEEEJ). SCP CEEEJ is a competitive Call for Applications, with an estimated budget of $5 million available through two funding sources, with $3 million available through REAP 2.0 resources and $2 million through Senate Bill 1 (SB1) resources.

SCAG’s SCP provides resources for local planning efforts and serves as a key implementation tool of Connect SoCal. This Call for Applications awards funding and direct technical assistance, determined by a competitive evaluation process for proposed and pilot projects that achieve multiple objectives: 1) accelerate infill development, 2) affirmatively further fair housing, 3) reduce vehicle miles traveled, 4) reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and 5) support implementation of the adopted Connect SoCal. There are two project categories for this program: ((1) Housing and Land Use Strategies, and (2) Multimodal Communities. This Call for Applications prioritizes funding for Priority Populations that are disadvantaged and historically underserved and encourages partnerships between local governments and community-based organizations (CBOs).

SCAG anticipates releasing the Call for Applications in early 2023 following approval of SCAG’s REAP 2.0 application by the State Partners.
