INDIAN WELLS – In August, 1964, President Lyndon Johnson declared a War on Poverty. A half-century later, California continues to lose ground, and elected leaders from throughout the region warn that without a collaborative commitment, the battle will be lost.

On Oct. 2, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) released a Notice of Funding Availability for the Infill Infrastructure Grant (IIG) program. IIG  grants provide for the gap funding of infrastructure improvements that are an integral part of or are necessary to facilitate the development of new infill housing for specific residential or mixed use projects. A total of $40 million is available for the Fiscal Year 2014-15 funding round. Grant applications are due to HCD by Dec. 10. The Federal Transit Administration will host a webinar on its Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development Planning Notice of Funding Availability on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern time, at https://connectdot.connectsolutions.com/fta-tod-pilot

The webinar will provide an overview of the program, describe eligible applicants and projects, and provide an opportunity for attendees to obtain answers to other questions. Note that audio and video will be provided through the link above; there is no separate call-in number. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the Pilot Program for TOD Planning NOFA webpage afterward for those that are unable to attend.
