CEQA 101 and SCAG Roles under CEQA

Toolbox Tuesday

Post

In this Toolbox Tuesday session, speakers will provide a basic understanding of the California Environmental Policy Act (CEQA) fundamentals, including the context and legislative intent of the CEQA statute and guidelines, guiding principles, environmental review process, and types of CEQA notices and documents. CEQA is one of California’s most significant environmental laws. CEQA requires public agencies to consider the environmental consequences of their discretionary actions. Speakers will highlight SCAG’s role as a CEQA commenting agency through the Intergovernmental Review Program and as a CEQA Lead Agency for the Connect SoCal Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR). Join us for the 1.5-hour training to gain knowledge about CEQA and SCAG’s CEQA Program.

Toolbox Tuesdays provide training on a range of practical skills and knowledge for local planning practitioners including training in the use of technology and education for practical approaches to timely issues. All classes and webinars are COMPLIMENTARY for staff of SCAG-member local governments and other SCAG partners in Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties. Private sector planners, non-profit staff, academics and students are welcome to attend.
