Equity Working Group

Post

This meeting features a presentation of a three-year research project by the Center for the Health Assessment of Mothers and Children of Salinas Youth Council to measure chemicals in homes in an agricultural community, plus a presentation from Ventura County on their Agricultural Worker Housing Ordinance, which received the 2023 SCAG Sustainability Award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainability. SCAG staff will also provide updates on the Strategic Plan for Clean Cities and Connect SoCal 2024.

The purpose of the Equity Working Group is to engage stakeholders on SCAG’s regional and local planning activities as well as share efforts across the region to eliminate racial bias and barriers in land-use and transportation planning. Because equity is intersectional, the Equity Working Group will address multiple planning areas, including Environmental Justice (EJ), Public Health, and others.

The Regional Planning Working Groups (RPWG) provide a forum to engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of plans and policies to advance the region’s mobility, economic and sustainability goals. These groups will also help support the development of Connect SoCal 2024, the Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy.

SCAG, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), will accommodate persons who require a modification of accommodation in order to participate in this meeting.
