Voice for All: Developing and Implementing Effective Language Access Strategies
Toolbox Tuesday
Join us for a Toolbox Tuesday session on incorporating language access strategies in local planning to empower non-English speakers to fully engage in public meetings and utilize public services. This session will review the legal obligation to provide language access and essential elements of language access program planning. Participants will learn about best practices of developing and implementing a sustainable and tailored language access plan. During this session, Laureen Laglagaron from the U.S. Department of Justice, Daniel Trejo from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, Lupita Huerta from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation and Ana Vallianatos from SCAG will offer insight into how agencies developed language access policies and advice for how jurisdictions can implement language access strategies.
