Ray Marquez was elected to the Chino Hills City Council in a special election held in March of 2013 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former City Council Member Bill Kruger. He served the remainder of that term and was re-elected in 2014. He served his first term as Mayor in 2017 and is currently serving his second term as Mayor for 2022.

Ray has been an active volunteer, civic leader, and realtor in the community since 1984. He was a member of the Chino Hills Incorporation Committee, which sought to establish Chino Hills as a City. Ray also served as a member of the City’s Planning Commission from 1992 to 1994, and the Parks and Recreation Commission from 1994 to 2006. He also served as an elected Board Member for the Chino Valley Independent Fire District from 2006 until he was elected to the Chino Hills City Council in 2013.

David Shapiro was elected to the Calabasas City Council on March 5, 2013 and served as the City’s Mayor from 2014-2015 and after being re-elected to the Council in 2018, he served a second term as Mayor 2018-2019.

Shapiro serves as the City Council Liaison on School Site Safety as part of the School Area Traffic and Safety Committee, is School and PFC Liaison for the City Council, is a member of the Senior Task Force, and was on the Selection Committee working to build the Calabasas Senior Center/Adult Enrichment Center. He also serves on the Emergency Preparedness and Communications Committees for the City. Shapiro is also a representative on the newly formed Clean Power Alliance (CPA) working toward providing renewable and clean energy in the City of Calabasas and beyond.

Mayor Shapiro was recently elected to become the Regional Councilmember for Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG). Shapiro also has served on a SCAG committee for CEHD for the past 3 years, working on many issues including housing, transportation, and sustainability, and also serves on the Valley Economic Alliance Board of Governors. He was also recently re-appointed for a 5th year to the League of California Cities Policy Committee, addressing statewide issues of housing and homelessness, among others. He continues to serve as the Captain of the City of Calabasas Relay for Life Team and supports many other philanthropic organizations, including Rotary Club of Calabasas, Habitat for Humanity, Cordasco Something Yellow Foundation, Loving Home Hospice for Children, and Golden West ALS.

Prior to being elected to the City Council, Shapiro served as President/Chair of the Calabasas Library Commission, as President/Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission, was on the first two Civic Center Advisory Committees that helped develop and design the Calabasas Civic Center and Library, served as a Board Member of the Joint Powers Authority for the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, and has been Vice-President of the Community Center Alliance for over 11 years.

José Luis Solache was elected to the Lynwood City Council in 2013. His commitment to improving the Lynwood community is demonstrated through his hard work and dedication. His aptitude for leadership and predisposition for genuine, sincere service are the characteristics that shape who he is – a public servant committed to improve the lives of the children and people in the community.

Prior to serving on City Council, Solache was elected to the Lynwood Board of Education in Nov. 2003, making history as the youngest Latino board member of Lynwood Unified School District. He was re-elected in 2007 and in 2011, serving as Vice President for the board during his third term in office. The Board of Education represents over 15,000 students, over 600 teachers, and over 750 service employees. He has also served as Board President three times, each lasting a year. As an alumnus of the Lynwood K-12 educational system, Solache’s first-hand experience allows him to identify the district needs and participate in the process of providing a quality education that prepares students for college and career. In 2013, he ran for Lynwood City Council and was elected.

Solache graduated from California State University – Dominguez Hills with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with an option in Spanish. Solache has been a leader in public service since an early age. While completing his degree at CSU Dominguez Hills, he served as Student Body President for two terms, followed by winning a statewide election to chair the largest student-run organization – the California State Student Association (CSSA). As chairman of CSSA, he served and protected access and affordability to a quality public higher education for the under-served communities in California. Solache is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts degree at the University of Southern California, while also serving as the Director of Community and Government Relations for a local non-profit organization.
