SCAG to Host 7 ‘Planning for Main Streets’ Pop-Ups at Upcoming Community Events

Help improve traffic safety in local communities and learn more about SCAG’s Planning for Main Streets project, a regional effort to reimagine state highway corridors that double as community main streets, by attending a pop-up during an upcoming community event. SCAG is hosting seven pop-ups to gather input from local communities where the projects are located. 

Schedule of Community Events

Project Area: State Route 39 Stanton 

  • Date and Time: Aug. 30, 1 to 3 pm
  • Event: Stanton Central Park Splash Pad
  • Location: Stanton Central Park, 10660 Western Ave, Stanton, CA 90680 

Project Area: State Route 1 Long Beach 

  • Date and Time: Sept. 19, 5 to 7 pm
  • Event: DTLB Live!
  • Location: The Promenade between Broadway and 3rd Street 

Project Area: State Route 1 Wilmington 

Project Area: State Route 39 Westminster 

  • Date and Time: Sept. 27, 5 to 7 pm
  • Event: Fall Festival
  • Location: Westminster Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster, CA 92683 

Project Area: State Route 18 San Bernardino 

  • Date and Time: End of September 2026 (date to be finalized)
  • Event: School arrival and dismissal
  • Location: Golden Valley Middle School, Waterman Avenue and 38th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92404 

Project Area: State Route 1 Lomita 

Project Area: State Route 86 Brawley

  • Date and Time: Mid-October 2026 (date to be finalized)
  • Event: School arrival and dismissal
  • Location: Witter Elementary School, Brawley Avenue and K Street, Brawley, CA 92227 

Each pop-up will provide information about the project and proposed improvements along the specific corridor in that area. The project team will be available to hear questions, comments, and ideas. Your feedback will help inform safety, mobility, and placemaking improvements along the corridor. Participants can stop by the pop-up at any time during the event.
