This public hearing is being scheduled at the direction of the Regional Council, pursuant to adopted motion taken at the regularly scheduled July 1, 2021 Regional Council meeting; this hearing is not required by statute or any applicable law. The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with additional opportunity to offer public comment to the Regional Council on the topic of the SoCal Greenprint. Thereafter, the Regional Council may discuss, provide direction to SCAG staff or take any other action it deems appropriate on the SoCal Greenprint data tool.

SCAG is required to develop the SoCal Greenprint data tool pursuant to mitigation measures contained in the Programmatic Environmental Impact Report and related Addendum No. 1 for the Connect SoCal (2020-2045) Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy.

The SoCal Greenprint will be a web-based mapping tool that compiles more than 100 existing and publicly available data sources into interactive maps that helps users make better land use and transportation infrastructure decisions and support conservation investments based on the best available scientific data. The SoCal Greenprint will provide a resource to help stakeholders prioritize lands for growth and conservation.

Additional information regarding the SoCal Greenprint data tool is available online at: https://scag.ca.gov/gis-socal-greenprint.
